Meeting Notes from JK/SK Meeting

Thank you to all the parents that attended last night's JK/SK meeting.

The three main issues of concern are:

1. Play Space - how do 120 children share this space
2. Persons in Charge while out in the yard should wear identifiable clothing - this has been agreed to
3. Start time 9:15am End Time 3:15pm - it doesn't seem as though there is anything we can influence this year however we could possibly influence this decision for next year if the need warrants this.

Michelle Capon, IRC Parent Council President, will be reaching out to Superintendent of Ward 7, Curtis Ennis, to further discuss parents' concerns and possible solutions. If you have additional concerns or letter you would like to forward to the TDSB and our Superintendent, please forward them to Michelle at michelle_capon@hotmail.com

In the meantime, you can download last night's meeting minutes here.

PIZZA LUNCH NOTICE

You would have received a Pizza lunch form this past Wednesday along with the other mail outs sent home every Wednesday. Since the full day Kindergarten program is still in its infancy at IRC,  as such it has been decided that the consolidation of current routines and supervision during the lunch period should have all the kinks worked out prior to adding new variables.

For now Pizza Day will not be open to Kindergarten children. This is a temporary and the plan is to have a trial pizza day for JK/SK at a later date so all parties involved can establish a plan to ensure it runs smoothly with adequate supervision. Stay tuned for more details!

IMPORTANT NOTICE RE: FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN IMPLEMENTATION

Principal Anne Macdonald has met with the YMCA manager and the TDSB Early Years Instructional Leader regarding some of the challenges/issues with our full day Kindergarten implementation, specifically dealing with shared space in the playground area, the play structure and the entry/exit routines. She would like to invite all JK/SK parents who have concerns, to a meeting this coming Wednesday, September 24th at 9:15am, in the drop-off area.

Traffic Concerns in our Community

With all the recent (and planned!) development in our community, many of you may have noticed an increase in vehicular traffic on our streets. While we have expressed our concerns to our local Police Division on behalf of our school and community, nothing speaks quite as loudly as individual complaints/concerns from residents themselves. If you'd like to share your concern about the dangers of increased traffic in the West Bend community, you can do so here:

http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/d11/

Near the top right hand corner, look for the yellow/amber pull down menu.

Select - Citizen Online Report Entry

Then follow posting instructions.
