Hello, everyone!
Please download the approved minutes from our November 20 Parent Council meeting by clicking on this link (this document also includes Ward 7 meeting minutes) and the November financial statement is here.
At last parent council meeting we determined that an interim Parent Council Chair was not necessary at this time. We will hold an election for this position at the next parent council meeting, which has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 15th at 7:00 pm.
Wondering what it takes to be Parent Council Chairperson? According to the TDSB binder on all things Parent Council, here is the low down! "The Chair or Co-Chairs acts as the primary representative of the school Council and leads School Council meetings. The Chair/Co-Chairs will:
- Arrange meetings
- Prepare agenda
- Chair the council meetings
- Ensure the minutes of the council meetings are recorded & maintained
- Encourage consensus among School Council members & facilitate the resolution of conflict
- Establish sub-committees when deemed advisable
- Communicate with the school principal on behalf of the council"
Want to share this role with a friendly, fellow IRC Parent? You got it! As noted above, Co-Chair is absolutely an option and last night we began to discuss how the responsibilities of this role might naturally be split. Note: This parent council executive term runs until September 30, 2019.
If you are interested, or if you have any questions, please email me (Amanda) and plan to come to the January 15 meeting!
Thank-you,
-IRC Parent Council
